NGS Schools in conjunction with Ilamoshe Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) and Oke-Afa community in Lagos has organised a free oral health screening for the parents of the Institution and the residents of the community.
According to the school, the free screening in which a number of Oke-Afa residents and the NGS parents benefited from was part of the school’s conducts of giving back to her immediate society.
The Executive Director, NGS, Mrs. Chinyere Chima, who was pleased with the success of the project, said dental health is an integral part of the total body health, hence promised to do more within the School’s capacity for the benefit of the general populace
“We are happy that we have been able to touch lives through this free oral health screening. We, at Nigerian Ghanaian Schools, believe that the society is an integral part of what we do, the reason we decided to give back to the society through this exercise,” she enthused.
At the well-attended programme, she noted that the World Health Organisation (WHO) set aside the month of March as World Oral Health Day to promote good dental health, which prompted the exercise.
“We hope to make this an annual event so that more people can be touched,” she said, while celebrating this year’s World Oral Health Day in Lagos.
Four dentists, who carried out the free dental screening for members of the public and gave their expertise on maintaining good oral hygiene, manned the event, which took place at Bestfood Street, Oke-Afa.
